Portable Black Box

The Portable Black Box is the most impactful single upgrade you can make to a downrigger trolling setup. This compact galvanic device clips to your downrigger cable near the weight and generates a positive 0.65 volt electrical field that radiates through the water surrounding your entire spread — charging every lure in the zone with the bioelectric signature of live prey. No batteries required. The charge is generated passively through the galvanic reaction of dissimilar metals in water.

In controlled testing by LureCharge's founder — a 4th-generation BC commercial salmon fisherman — the Portable Black Box produced approximately 5:1 improvement in hookups versus a non-equipped downrigger setup. That's not a small edge. That's the difference between a slow day and a limit.

The science is straightforward: fish detect positive electrical voltage and are attracted to it. The Columbia River study demonstrated that returning salmon actively chose to swim through positively charged water and avoided negatively charged water.
